Glossybox May 2012: Birthday Box

Hi guys, this months Glossybox was their 1 year anniversary box! Hasn't time flown? So as well as their usual delights, they added in a few of their own little treats. We got a Glossybox pink balloon, and a fantastic little mirror. Read on to see what else was in the box..

Eldora False Eyelashes

'Eldora is about beautiful, quality and value-priced lashes for any occasion'

I have not yet tried these so I don't know what the quality is like, but they look lovely.

Neal's Yard Remedies Rehydrating Rose Daily Moisture

'Hydrating rose extract and damask rose oil soften, smooth and help restore skin's natural radiance'

This feels really smooth and it sinks into skin really well and feel's very nourishing, but it smell's a little bit old lady-y.

Noble Isle Summer Rising Bath & Shower Gel

'An immaculate fragrance evoking the beginnings of summer.'

This smells absolutely to-die-for! It has a very fresh, very summery scent that smells expensive (if that makes sense)!

Lolita Lempicka L'Eau en Blanc & Eau de Parfum

'Discover Lolita Lempicka's feminine world where Parisian chic meets fantasy fairy tale to create the perfect fragrance'

Both fragrances have a gorgeous smooth, feminine scent and the L'Eau en Blanc smells very familiar but I just can't put my finger on it!

Collection 2000 Lasting Colour Gel Eyeliner

'Creating longed for perfect liner with lasting lustre is easier than ever to achieve with Collection Lasting Colour Gel Eyeliners'

I have not tried this properly yet, only on the back of my hand but it applies very nicely and the colour is very pigmented. I will try this out properly over the next few days and do a full review on it.

What Are The Best Hairsprays?

Hey guys, sorry for the lack of post's in this last week I have been mega busy with exams and revision, but they will be over after Thursday, yaaaaaay!

~
I have always struggled to find the right hairspray as they are always either too sticky, too crunchy or just not hold-y enough (if you get my drift?). Anyway, after many years and I would imagine lots of money later, I think I have narrowed down my favourites (and one definitely not favourite).

 Tigi Rockaholic Flexible Hairspray Review

I am a huge fan of the Tigi hairsprays and have probably tried most of them, but this one and the 'Hard Head' are my favourites. This hairspray is great for holding up-do's in place and is rather good at holding in curls too although it does tend to make the hair a little frizzy towards the end of the day.
Bed Head 'Hard Head'  Hard Hold Hairspray Review

This is the strongest hairspray I have EVER used. This is fantastic for holding up those very tricky up-do's that don't like to stay put! I wouldn't recommend this for curls as it does make them a tad crunchy. It also smells reaaaally good.

Toni and Guy Firm Hold Hairspray Review

I only have the iddy biddy bottle that I keep in my bag at the moment as my big one ran out, but this hairspray is amazing at keeping in curls and you can hardly feel it in your hair. It make's my curls last aaall day (and even the next day too sometimes!) As with all Toni and Guy, this has its yummy signature scent.

L'Oreal Elnett Hairspray Review

I never have and never will understand the hype about this hairspray. I think it is absolutely rubbish and smells dreadful. I heard that they were changing the scent of this, but that still doesn't make up for the fact that this hairspray just doesn't work! The only thing I like about this hairspray is that it has a good spray on it.

I hope you found this helpful and feel free to ask any questions! :)

NOTD: Fishnets and Glitter

Hi Guys, just thought I'd share today's nails. I used Models Own Blue Moon as a base on all nails apart from the ring finger which is Thunder and Lightening, and I used my Konad Stamper and M57 plate to create the fishnet pattern on the others.

Have a great day! :D

Benefit 'They're Real!' Mascara Review

I picked up this mascara the other day and kinda fell in love so I thought I'd do a little review. I don't usually go for mascaras with this type of wand as I think that they tend to separate to much and volumize not enough! So I usually go for the bristle type wand. However, I heard so many good reviews about this, that I had to give in. This mascara is seriously amazing, just by wiggling the wand through my lashes once, they immediately looked longer. Once wiggled through the rest of my lashes, it creates much longer and 'just the right amount of defined' lashes. Also, the little brush thingy on the end is perfect for catching those pesky little lashes in the corners.

There's no flaking, no smudging, it lasts all day and it has some kind of magic in it that somehow curls your lashes for you. Did anyone else find this or just me?

Have a great day! :D

Figs and Rouge Balm Review

I hate to write this post, because I was really looking forward to trying this product. Upon application it felt amazingly smooth and comfortable on the lips, but within a very short space of time, this almost melts off your lips and you feel as if nothing was ever applied to them. So throughout the night I re-applied and re-applied, no problem. However, when I woke up the morning after, my lips were very swollen and I had blisters on my lips. I wasn't 100% sure that it was this, but this was the only new product that I had used.

I discontinued use, and by that night the swelling had gone down, but the blisters remained for a day or two. Just out of sheer curiosity, I asked my mum to try it (No.1 daughter, right?!), and within a few hours, her lips had also swollen up, and a blister had popped up on the side of her bottom lip. Sorry mum..

Just thought I'd share my experience with this product with you. It obviously didn't agree with us, but we hate waste so have decided to use it as a cuticle balm instead! Anyone else had this problem? Or do you love it?

Disclaimer: No mum's were damaged in the making of this blog post
Mum was only slightly damaged in the making of this blog post ;)

Have a great day! :D

Real Techniques by Samantha Chapman Brush Review

I finally got my hands on these bad boys after reading many raving reviews, and boy am I pleased! They are the softest brushes I have ever felt and they all create an absolutely flawless look. Also, the case in which they come in, is so practical. It closes like a book to cover the brushes whilst you're travelling etc, and then if you tighten the toggle it turns into a stand to put on your dressing table or wherever you wish. Overall, I absolutely LOVE.LOVE.LOVE these brushes. Amazing quality and value for money. What else could a girl ask for?

Core Collection

Contour Brush

This brush is perfect for contouring your cheeks, as it fits perfectly in the hollow of your cheek.

Pointed Foundation Brush

I use this one to apply primer to my T-Zone and chin, as that is the only place I put it and this brush is great for applying it evenly.

Detailer Brush

This is a great little brush to apply concealer to any blemishes.

Buffing Brush

This is the piece de resistance of all foundation brushes. It creates such a flawless finish and with minimal work.

Starter Set

Deluxe Crease Brush

I have very small eyes, so this is a little big, BUT this is amazing for applying concealer underneath my eyes.

Base Shadow Brush

This makes applying eye shadow a doddle! It blend's it on effortlessly and, as with all these brushes, leaves a flawless finish.

Accent Brush

This brush is ideal for applying shadow along your lash line or smudging out liner.

Brow Brush

Lovely for creating a natural looking brow.

Pixel Point Eye Liner Brush

I love this brush for applying a shadow/liner along my lower lash line.

I purchased these from my local Boots, but you can also get them online here and here.

Have a great day! :D

Out Of Primer? Maybe not..

I've seen this post floating around beauty blog's for a while, but didn't really believe it as I thought I had scraped every last bit of the primer out. But the other day I was running low on primer so decided to see what I could salvage from my tubes. Let me start by saying that these two in the picture are the teeny-tiny primer potions that come with the first Naked palette. Anyhoo, I filled a whole Clinique tester foundation pot  full of what was left over in these tubes! That is going to last a looong time.

I just cut the tubes open with a pair of scissors and then scooped the product out with a cotton bud. I couldn't believe how much I got out of these little tubes and I still have two of the full sized tubes that I thought were empty ,to go!

Have a great day!

The Easiest Way To Remove Glitter Polish

Now, if you're like me and love wearing glitter polish but HATE removing it, and it usually ends up looking like this...
Then this is what I find the best method is for removing it.

You will need:
-Kitchen Foil (Cut into strips, about 5cm wide, 15 cm long)
-Cotton Wools Disks (Cut in half.)
-Pure Acetone

Step 1: Pour some acetone onto the cotton disk.

Step 2: Wrap saturated cotton disk around your nail, making sure the saturated bit is directly on your nail.

Step 3: Place foil strip under finger, having the top of your finger about half way along length of strip. Fold over the top of your nail, and fold excess foil around finger. Leave for around 10 minutes. You'll look something like this...

Step 4: Remove. Hold thumb down firmly over where your nail is, and pull up.

Done! And as you can see it leaves not one speck of polish on the nail.

The skin around your nails may seem dry from using the pure acetone, but it's not permanent just apply a bit of hand moisturiser. I usually just do one hand at a time when removing the polish or it can get a bit fiddly!

I hope this helped, have a great day! :)
